It follows the mind-bending antics of Rick Sanchez and his nephew Morty Smith, which often takes place in other universes and features other versions of the characters. Fans may look forward to several more seasons of Rick and Morty while they wait for the premiere of season 6, as Adult Swim ordered 70 (!) additional episodes back in 2018 and is currently working their way through them. If you’re a fan of interstellar shenanigans, schwifty dancing movements, and the occasional emotional gut-punch then this order is for you.

Speaking of the season 5 finale, Forgetting Sarick Mortshall and Rickmurai Jack left fans reeling as the breakup of Rick and Morty was followed by the return of Evil Morty who went on to breach Rick’s protective bubble, both metaphorically and literally, in the dramatic two-part finale. While Rick and Morty’s relationship may not always be harmonious, they are each other’s lifeblood.
On the official Instagram account of Rick and Morty, the show has shared a clip from season 5’s premiere in which Morty is falling back to Earth after a terrible journey. A simple “yes” in the caption answers the question of whether or not Season 6 will be released, but the post is coy about disclosing an exact air date. Here’s everything you need to know about Rick and Morty season 6 – so grab your Plumbus and portal pistol.
Rick And Morty Season 6 Plot
Until we learn more about what’s in store for Rick and Morty’s sixth season, we can only hope that future stories will be more like “Mortyplicity” and less like “Rickdependence Spray,” which is still the show’s most baffling episode. I think the season five conclusion hinted to this path of action. However, Rick and Morty have never leaned so heavily towards serialized storytelling as at the end of its fifth season. This is the first time the program has done so.
‘Rickmurai Jack’ not only brought back Evil Morty, but it also revealed Rick’s entire past, which practically confirmed that his wife and daughter were indeed killed by another Rick. A flashback from season three had hinted at this, but now that we know it’s true, don’t be surprised if the program begins to divulge more canon.
Rick And Morty Season 6 Cast
Rick Sanchez
On the Adult Swim animated series Rick and Morty, he is one of the two eponymous characters as well as the show’s main protagonist.
Summer Smith
Rick and Morty is an American animated television sitcom in which one of the main characters, Summer Smith, appears. Summer, the 17-year-old protagonist of Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon’s comedy series, is a typical and frequently superficial adolescent focused on elevating her social standing.
Actors/actresses | Cast |
---|---|
Justin Roiland | Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith |
Chris Parnell | Jerry Smith (Morty’s father and Rick’s son-in-law) |
Sarah Chalke | Beth Smith (Morty’s mother and Rick’s daughter) |
Spencer Grammer | Summer Smith (Morty’s older sister and Rick’s granddaughter) |
One thing we know for sure is that half of the characters will be voiced by co-creator Justin Roiland, including the show’s protagonists, Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith.
This includes Chris Parnell (Morty’s father Jerry), Spencer Grammer (Summer’s sister, and maybe her clone counterpart in Space Beth), and Sarah Chalke (Beth’s mother).

Rick and Morty also boast a slew of memorable recurring characters, so Kari Wahlgren’s Jessica, Keith David’s President of the United States, and Harmon’s Birdperson are all likely to make another appearance.
Season 6 is expected to have yet another stunning cast of celebrity cameos, as is customary. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the premiere date.

Rick And Morty Season 6 Release Date
Season 6 of Rick and Morty is expected to air in the summer of 2022 at the earliest.
There were two-year gaps between the long-anticipated third season and its release, much to the dismay of Rick and Morty fans. Because they can plan their time around the show’s production, producers Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland signed a landmark 70-episode deal with Adult Swim and pledged no more significant gaps between seasons.
Although season 5 premiered in the fall of 2019, it was revealed in July 2020 that work had begun on season 6 — and by August 2021, writer Cody Ziglar intimated in a tweet that the writers’ room had wrapped on season seven.
Season 6 of Rick and Morty could launch in the summer of 2022, once the scripts have been finished and the show has been producing episodes on a regular basis. The season 3 opener aired on April 1st without warning, and creator Justin Roiland has previously mentioned a desire to release new episodes every month in order to minimize the time between seasons. However, this is Rick and Morty, so don’t rule out an even more experimental release approach.

Rick And Morty Season 6 Trailer
We may not see a teaser for season 6 until later in 2022, as polished content is rarely provided until a few months before the show’s launch. Over a year before the episode aired, we were treated to an early animatic for the season 5 opener. With any luck, it won’t be quite as long between now and next year’s debut until we get a trailer for season 6. To get our first look at season 6, we’ll be attending this year’s Adult Swim Festival, which takes place in November.
