Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, a Republican, has proposed permanently outlawing Covid mandates.
DeSantis stated in a press release earlier this week that he has introduced legislation to “make Covid freedoms in Florida permanent,” adding that the “strong pro-freedom, anti-mandate action will permanently protect Floridians from losing their jobs due to Covid vaccine mandates, protects parents’ rights, and institutes additional protections that prevent discrimination based on Covid vaccination status.”
The plan seeks to safeguard Floridians from the “biomedical security state” by permanently outlawing mask requirements throughout the state, vaccine and mask requirements in schools, Covid passports in the state, and employer hiring or firing based on Covid vaccinations.

The plan also claims that it will safeguard “medical freedom of speech” by promising to protect the rights of medical practitioners to free speech, the ability to disagree with the “preferred narrative of the medical community,” and the right to have religious beliefs.
DeSantis said in the unveiling of his proposal, “When the world lost its head, Florida was a bastion of sanity, serving fiercely as freedom’s lynchpin.” “These measures will guarantee that Florida stays this way and offer medical professionals landmark safeguards for free expression.”
Following DeSantis’ repeated objections of Covid requirements, a new suggestion has been made. DeSantis signed several laws in 2021 to shield Floridians from what he described as “unscientific, needless commands” by municipal governments in the event of a pandemic.
As a health sciences researcher and physician, Joseph Ladapo, Florida’s surgeon general, backed DeSantis’ idea and stated: “I have personally observed accomplished scientists face threats due to their unorthodox opinions.”
“However, as we have all seen over the past few years, many of these viewpoints have been accurate. Without concern for their jobs or careers, all medical practitioners should be encouraged to participate in the scientific conversation, he continued.

Florida will formally advise avoiding Covid vaccines for healthy youngsters, according to Ladapo’s announcement from the previous year.
In terms of actually being able to estimate with any accuracy and any certainty the even prospect of benefit, he claimed that “we’re kind of scraping at the bottom of the barrel,”, especially with healthy children.
The announcement went against recommendations made by the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
DeSantis petitioned the Florida Supreme Court in December to have a grand jury look into whether Covid vaccine producers deceived Floridians about the potential adverse effects of the doses.
The grand jury will meet for a year before concluding after the court accepts DeSantis’ petition.
