Russell Gage Injury Update. According to head coach Todd Bowles, wide receiver Russell Gage of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was hurt late in his team’s playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. He sustained a concussion and is currently being examined for possible neck problems at a nearby hospital.
Gage was struck by Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson and remained on the field despite suffering injuries to his neck and jaw. Gage was seen moving his leg, and Bowles claimed he was also carrying his fingers.
The fifth-year wide receiver had to be rendered immobile and dragged off the field before being taken to the hospital. As Gage was treated, players from the Buccaneers and Cowboys gathered nearby.
With 2:55 left in the game, Tom Brady targeted Gage on an incomplete pass, which resulted in the injury. Gage, 26, was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the 2018 draught out of LSU.
Before agreeing to a contract with Tampa Bay before the 2022 season, he played for Atlanta for four years. In the Buccaneers’ 31-14 defeat, Gage had two receptions for 10 yards.
