According to officials, a football player for San Jose State University who was riding a scooter in San Jose on Friday morning was killed after his vehicle collided with a school bus that was carrying children.
According to the police, Camdan McWright, 18, was riding an electric scooter when he crashed into the school bus on Friday morning just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of South 10th and Reed streets.
Ross Lee, a public information officer for the California Highway Patrol, stated that the San Jose Unified School District bus, which had 14 students between the ages of 14 and 17 on board, was travelling east on Reed Street when the college freshman rode his electric scooter into the eastern crosswalk of the intersection in front of the bus. The incident resulted in the student being struck and killed by the bus. According to him, the bus driver, who had the right of way and the green light, was unable to come to a stop in time.
According to what he said, the bus driver stopped the vehicle and has been cooperative with the CHP investigators. The students were transferred to yet another bus and then driven to their respective schools.
“This morning, a tragic accident took the life of a remarkable young man. “Everyone in this community that had the opportunity to spend time with Camdan knew that he had a bright future ahead of him,” San Jose State football coach Brent Brennan said in a statement. “Camdan had a bright future ahead of him and everyone in this community knew that.”

According to officials from San Jose State University, McWright was in his first season with the Spartans. He had previously played football at St. Genevieve High in Panorama City (Los Angeles County), which is where he was from. McWright would have turned 19 in December.
The college has announced that the Saturday afternoon football game that was scheduled to take place at New Mexico State has been postponed. The school also stated that counsellors are available for students and athletes. There has been no announcement regarding a new date or time.
“The untimely passing of Camdan McWright has left all of us in utter disbelief. The community at San Jose State University is a very tight-knit one, and the campus has been completely destroyed. “We lost a very bright and talented young man much too soon,” stated the athletic director of San Jose State University, Jeff Konya.
Brennan continued by saying, “I want the McWright family to know that we are all here for them and that our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.” “Camdan will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and we will miss him tremendously.”
