(WSVN) – After the school district reported receiving hoax calls reporting a shooting at Miami Central High School, several parents were understandably anxious when it came time to collect their children from the school.
On Tuesday, just after 9 o’clock in the morning, officials got a call regarding a male adult shooter wearing body armour who was on the second floor of Miami Central High School, which is located at 1781 NW 95th St.
A mom named Shayna Anderson shared her experience by saying, “My child contacted me talking about code red 911.”
Eric Cummings, one of the parents, said that his child was “right in the classroom right there.”
After receiving swatting calls reporting active shooters at many campuses across South Florida, school administrators decided to shorten the length of the school day.
Anderson stated, “I was terrified for my life, so I had no choice but to come and pick up my child.”
“We were in class learning when they came on the announcement and said it was a code red, not a simulation,” said Talia Landingham, another student at the school. “It was a real emergency, not a drill.”
