Police are looking for the shooter who started firing on Sunday afternoon in Roseville outside the Macomb Mall. No recorded injuries occur.
Just before 1 p.m., Roseville police were called to the mall in the 32000 block of Gratiot Avenue due to a complaint of gunfire. Officers were informed that two groups of persons got into a verbal confrontation, which intensified as the parties departed the mall.
According to Police Chief Ryan Monroe, an unidentified individual pulled out a gun and fired repeatedly outside in the parking lot outside of the Dick’s Sporting Goods store. Just after 4:30 p.m., he said there had been no shooting at or within the building and that no one was in arrest.
Robert Taylor, the mayor of Roseville, claimed that the mall was promptly shut down. When the police got on the scene, they had no idea where the culprit was.
The mall was guarded and checked by police with assistance from other agencies, but the shooter had already left.
Monroe stated that the inquiry is still ongoing and that it might take some time to thoroughly examine all the facts at hand. Police were watching the tape, according to Taylor.
The Free Press placed information-seeking messages on the mall security and management phone lines.
The Dick’s Sporting Goods manager who answered the phone stated he had nothing to add. Later, a phone message on the store’s answering machine said that walk-in business was currently suspended.
The manager of the DXL store at Macomb Mall, which is next to Dick’s Sporting Goods but does not have a mall entrance, learned about the incident from family and friends. The management claimed that after seeing police in the parking lot, they locked the door.
When the mall’s staff and patrons were alerted to an active shooter, Michelle Sand claimed she was at the Old Navy store.

“It was also incredibly silent. The 56-year-old claimed that they didn’t make a loud announcement. “I’m sure the cashiers were terrified, just like I was, but they simply fled to the restrooms or the back of the store. Never did they speak. There were some clients who were merely observing one another. There were kids and other things.
According to Sand, either security or the store manager shut the doors and gave consumers the option to remain inside or leave. She made the decision to leave before the gates closed fully, according to Sand.
She stated, “I kept picturing the small kids who were just blocked in during the Uvalde (school massacre).” We didn’t know what kind of situation it was—do they have a large assault rifle?—so my gut instinct told me it was better to try to escape than to remain stuck inside if someone walked up.
In order to reach the parking lot and her car, Sand, a grandmother with seven grandkids and an eighth on the way, claimed to have run as quickly as she could. She claimed to have encountered a few individuals, including an elderly couple mall strolling, and instructed them to leave. She claimed that other shoppers at the mall were unaware of what was happening.
As I was running, I shouted, “Active shooter, get out! ” After that, I just drove to my car and wondered whether they were still nearby or not. I then walked away,” she stated.
She claimed that as she was driving along Gratiot, cops were swarming the neighbourhood. Sand expressed her fear and wish that no one had been wounded.
“When I got home, I was shaking. She said, “I contacted my daughter. “I started crying and was just saying, ‘Thank you, God, that I’m safe,’ but I was really just praying that nobody gets hurt.”
The closest mall nearby her, according to Sand, has been upgraded, and “never in my mind did I ever think this may be a dodgy area to be going.” I never considered it. She also had no idea that she would be in this predicament. She remarked that before deciding whether or not to visit the mall once more, she will have to determine the circumstances.
Police were searching the mall’s stores and ordering everyone to leave, according to a tweet from Macomb County Public Alerts sent at 2:16 p.m. In addition, it said that a man with black shoes and slacks and a shirt with a colourful D design on the back was wanted by authorities.
Roseville police were assisted by officers from St. Clair Shores, Fraser, Eastpointe, and Clinton Township.
Roseville police are asking anyone with information to contact them at (586) 775-2100.
