American novelist Richelle Mead created the Vampire Academy world in a series of six paranormal romance novels for young adults. The protagonist, Rosemarie “Rose” Hathaway, is a dhampir in training to become the protector of her best friend, Vasilisa “Lissa” Dragomir, a moroi. Rose is at St. Vladimir’s Academy to study how to fight Strigoi. Still, her forbidden love for her instructor, Dimitri Belikov, and her solid telepathic relationship with Lissa threaten to derail her progress.
Vampire Academy, the first book in the series, came out in 2007, and Frostbite came out in 2008. Shadow Kiss, the series’ third installment, was released in 2008, followed by Blood Promise in 2009. The year 2010 saw the publication of both the fifth installment, Spirit Bound, and Last Sacrifice’s sixth installment. Eight million copies of the books in the series had been sold in 35 countries as of 2013.

Despite its lack of recognition, Hex is an excellent horror show that has the capacity to impress even the most discerning viewers.

5. The Vampire Diaries
Both Vampire Academy and The Vampire Diaries revolve around bloodsucking immortals, and both were produced by Julie Plec. Any fan of Vampire Academy will find a lot to like in The Vampire Diaries. Series protagonist Elena Gilbert is a 17-year-old high school student who crosses paths with vampire Stefan and his villainous sibling Damon. Introducing werewolves, witches, and other supernatural beings just adds further complications.
There are a lot of scary moments and deaths in The Vampire Diaries, but there’s also a lot of love and action. An abundance of material is available for fans of the genre thanks to the eight seasons of The Vampire Diaries and its two equally compelling spinoffs; the Originals (five seasons) and Legacies (four seasons) center on a school for young supernatural creatures.
