Producer Jonas Rivera has reacted to one of the most popular Sid fan theories ahead of the release of Toy Story 4. In Toy Story 3, when Sid returns as a garbageman, one Redditor argues that he’s trying to save the toys that are being thrown away because he’s been traumatised by the fact that they’re alive.
“Wow, I hadn’t heard that one before. Even though it’s “too cool to let it go,” Rivera jokingly told Digital Spy that “maybe I should, like, confirm it or something.”
Everybody believes we’re a lot smarter than they are, but the truth is that it would have taken us a lot of arithmetic to figure that out. It’s gratifying to know that folks are delving deep into things.
Because he is the only one who has ever saw a toy living, poor Sid. When it comes to Sid, “I’m truly on his side,” says the narrator. Even if we don’t see Sid return, Rivera said that “a lot” of effort was spent on Toy Story 4 trying to strike a balance between tributes to the past – like Sid in Toy Story 3 – and the new characters they wanted to introduce.
