This is the second fatality on Granite State slopes in as many days, following a 21-year-old man’s death in a skiing accident at Cannon Mountain in Franconia on Wednesday. The Boston Globe reports that at 2:15 p.m., the Cannon Mountain Ski Patrol was notified of a missing skier whose companions had been separated for the last 90 minutes.

After a thorough search, Ski Patrol located the skier in the trees near the Upper Ravine path, but the man exhibited “no indications of life,” according to an e-mail sent by the mountain on Saturday to the Globe. The mountain spokeswoman also noted that the individual was an expert skier protected by a helmet.

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader(Facebook Account), friends and family named the victim Benjamin Joseph Bennett. Bennett, a student in the neurobiology department at the University of New Hampshire, was “killed unexpectedly in a skiing accident at Cannon Mountain on January 18, 2023,” as stated in his obituary.

According to his obituary, Bennett was a witty, compassionate, giving, intelligent, and hard-working man who enjoyed life to the fullest. His high school classmates called him “the class clown,” although he was pretty serious about his education and ended up as Valedictorian. Even while diligently pursuing his goal of becoming a neurosurgeon, he made time for his loved ones.

The obituary said, “he loved all things outdoors, especially sunset treks, kayaking, biking, and skiing.” Every person who knew him loved him and will miss him dearly. A total of 12 of Bennett’s siblings and his parents are still alive. On Monday, a 15-year-old died in a skiing accident at Gunstock Mountain(Twitter Account) in Gilford, New Hampshire. Thus, his passing was just two days after that. Principal Anthony Sperazzo of Gilford High School told The Boston Globe that the victim was a student there named Sydnie Quimby.
