On February 7, Grayson’s mother, Michelle Arroyo, announced on social media that her son had passed away. Although the cause of death has not been made public, Grayson was initially identified as having brain cancer in 2006, just three days after his sixth birthday, according to Arroyo’s support page.
“I’m devastated to report the death of my beloved Gray on Sunday night. She posted a picture of her baby on Instagram along with the caption, “It was quite unexpected as last week he had CSF extracted from his shunts and they altered the valve setting of his shunt and he was doing much better.
We were still having trouble with his diarrhea, and his potassium level was getting dangerously low, so I was giving him potassium three times a day. I gave him chest compressions until the paramedics arrived and took over after his heart stopped here at home.

He appeared healthy and was breathing on his own when he departed for the hospital, but once there, his heart failed once more. Grayson had been experiencing “fevers, infections, and low potassium” over the past few months, which “most certainly took a toll on my precious babies heart,” Arroyo said, adding that she “doesn’t have all the answers today.”
After hearing the tragic news, Smiley’s fiancee and fellow RHOC (wiki) alum Gretchen Rossi, who has a daughter named Skylar, 3, with the actor, 49, paid a heartfelt homage to Grayson.

Grayson was described by Gretchen Rossi (instagram) as “an angel on earth” and “an unbelievable warrior” before she went on to explain how the California native maintained his optimism despite having health issues for most of her life.
He struggled every day to find joy in the littlest things despite his anguish and discomfort, she said. He never stopped singing, dancing, or laughing despite his situation. He truly was a ray of hope and sunshine.
