Salt Lake City police have given more information about a deadly crash between a car and a person on foot that happened on Wednesday.
Around 3:31 p.m., the accident happened near 2100 East and 1300 South. A Salt Lake City Police news release says that bystanders were already giving CPR when the police arrived.
A news release on Thursday said that the girl who died was 11 years old. She was taken to a nearby hospital in very bad shape, but she did not make it. Her name is Winnie, according to a fundraising account.
From what the police have found so far, it looks like the driver of the pickup was going from 1300 South to 2100 East and hit the person while they were in a crosswalk.
A statement from the SLCPD says that the driver of the pickup truck, a 47-year-old man, stayed at the scene and is helping the police. There have been no charges.

The police statement says that this was the 24th death in Salt Lake City this year that was caused by traffic.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help pay for the girl’s hospital bills and funeral. Her name is Winifred, but everyone calls her “Winnie.” Here is the page. As always, Gephardt Daily can’t promise that the money donated will be used the way it says it will.
The post says, “For the tragic loss of Winifred (Winnie), a bright, kind, and loving 6th grader who was loved by her family and community, we would like to help the family in their time of grief by helping with funeral costs and counseling.” “Please think about helping in any way you can. Your donation will also honor this sweet girl, and we encourage you to include notes or messages with your donation that can be shared with her family and friends.
Gephardt Daily will add new information to the story as it comes in.
