‘SNL’ Shouts Out Laura Ingraham And Tucker Carlson Of Fox News Discuss The Russian Invasion

“Saturday Night Live” reverted to its loud roots on March 5, ridiculing Fox News, Donald Trump, and Russia after paying mournful respect to the people of Ukraine during its normally raucous cold open last week.

The cold open featured Laura Ingraham (Kate McKinnon) and Tucker Carlson hosting a Fox News program titled “Ukrainian Invasion Celebration Spectacular” (Alex Moffat). The Fox News anchors began the show by presenting a fundraiser for the true victims: Russian oligarchs, for calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “pathetic” and downgrading Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to a “border dispute,” respectively.

“I kept saying we should be worried about our own borders getting invaded by Mexico, but in my defense, I am racist so I thought that was true,” Carlson said before asking viewers to donate by either sending money or “because this is Fox News… take out a reverse mortgage.”

Ingraham was on hand to reassure viewers that “past and current President of the United States Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson)” would be answering the phones for donors. The Fox News hosts invited a special guest, “great American patriot” Steven Seagal, to encourage people at home to loosen their purse strings (Bowen Yang).

“Putin and I are, as they say in ancient Japan, Eskimo brothers,”  Seagal added, doing a few Taekwondo moves in honor of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

After cutting to Donald Trump, who slammed Beyond Burgers and the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” reboot, the Fox News anchors announced that they would be sending “every Russian soldier” a network care package that included “a My Pillow, six-month subscription to LifeLock, and ten American flag catheters.”

During the “Ukrainian Invasion Celebration Spectacular,”Ukrainian Invasion Celebration Spectacular”: Donald Trump Jr. (Mikey Day) and his fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle (Cecily Strong) sang a parody of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow” to honor “Russia and Ukraine coming together.”

“Tell me, something boy, don’t you love that big Russian convoy… I’m on the deep end, we should take Ukraine,” Carlson cut Guilfoyle short after he belted.

The hosts concluded the event by revealing that a Russian “boat is currently being dragged by NATO” and joking that since Putin is seeking to stifle free speech, CNN should be shut down as well.
