According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, a guy from a Montgomery County community perished in a snowmobile accident late Saturday on Great Sacandaga Lake. Following the collision on Lunker Lane, 20-year-old Florida resident Garrett E. Macintosh passed away at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, according to deputies.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were summoned around 11:35 p.m. to investigate a snowmobile crash. The inquiry, according to deputies, is not finished. Snowmobiles were being driven by Macintosh and a companion when the other rider turned around and noticed the collision, according to Sheriff Michael Zurlo (Facebook Account). Authorities have issued warnings about thin ice on various lakes and waterways in upstate New York, but Zurlo said that wasn’t a factor in the incident on Saturday.

On a lake in the southern Adirondack Mountains, at least two tragic crashes have been reported in the past week. The first one was attributed to shaky ground. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office says that a 42-year-old man from Johnstown died after falling through the ice while snowmobiling on Peck Lake in the community of Bleecker on Thursday night.
Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino, Todd Wheaton appears to have perished after his sled broke through thin ice, as reported by the Times Union on Friday. Three men were using snowmobiles to cross a lake when two vehicles smashed through the ice, submerging Wheaton. The two other guys managed to go to a nearby business and dial 911, which prompted a nightlong search by state, county, and municipal police and fire departments.
