Sound! Euphonium Season 3 Storyline
The story in Sound! Euphonium revolves around a group of teenagers in their high school band, as the title might suggest. The series begins as Euphonist Kumiko Oumae starts her first year at a new high school. Once a great Euphonist, Kumiko swore off music after a negative experience in middle school. However, once she gets to high school, she finds her love for playing music again.
Kumiko gives the music a second opportunity after being surrounded by a group of skilled but unruly musicians who want to form a high school brass band. With the help of some old friends like hornist-turned-trombonist Shuuichi Tsukamoto and trumpeter Reina Kousaka and some new friends like novice tubist Hazuki Katou, veteran contrabassist Sapphire Kawashima, and band vice president and fellow euphonist Asuka Tanaka, Kumiko forms a band with the intention of competing in the national school band competition.
Kumiko quickly learns that her bandmates are a confusing jumble, and as a result, the group moves at a snail’s pace. The arrival of a new band advisor named Noboru Taki gives Kumiko renewed optimism just as her dreams of musical glory begin to wane. Soon enough in the show, Noboru’s hard work pays off, and Kumiko and the rest of the band win the regional competition.
With their newfound fame, they’ve decided to spend their summer holiday working on their songs with Noboru and his musician buddies. Trouble begins, however, when a former band member expresses interest in re-joining the band, bringing up painful memories for the senior class. And Kumiko is taken aback by Noboru’s backstory, which includes his surprising reason for leading the high school band to a national championship.

Sound! Euphonium Season 3 Anime Characters
Kumiko Oumae
Our lead character, Kumiko, is a virtuoso Euphonist. Unfortunately, a terrible middle school experience caused her to give up her dreams of becoming a musician. After realizing that she is in the company of so many talented musicians at Kitauji High School, she decides to give music another go.
So that she can win the national high school band competition, she decides to join the high school’s brass bands. All through the series, Kumiko struggles to juggle her musical desires with her heavy workload. Even yet, she never stops working toward her goal of being a famous singer.
Kumiko is a person who isn’t afraid to voice her viewpoint, even being aware of the potential backlash she may receive. She also turns out to be a person prone to sudden and radical shifts in opinion.
Reina Kousaka:
Kumiko has known the show’s other main character, Reina Kousaka, for quite some time. They shared the same experience, in junior high. As the daughter of a professional musician, Reina has been profoundly influenced by him to become a talented trumpet player.
She is stoic and quite proud of her trumpet-playing skills. Since Reina considers herself to be special because of her trumpet playing, she has nothing but contempt for others who make no attempt to set themselves apart.
The show goes on to disclose that Kumiko stopped playing music when she and Reina had a falling out after winning a junior high band competition together.
Asuka Tanaka
Asuka Tanaka is the third and final main character of the program. She is the vice president of the high school brass band and is older than Kumiko and Reina. Asuka, like Kumiko, wears distinctive red-framed glasses and plays the euphonium to set herself apart. Her hostility, though, makes her a divisive figure. Asuka’s mother becomes violent with her in a later episode, and she is forced to quit the high school brass band.
