According to San Antonio police, southpark mall shooting at the food court at South Park Mall left one person gravely injured, a suspect in arrest, and four other people detained for questioning.
Just after 2 p.m. on Friday, officers were summoned to the mall in the 2300 block of SW Military Drive due to an active shooting. Police claimed there was no active shooter and the incident was singular.
According to police, a suspect shot someone in the torso after a fight between two groups of young people in the food court.
Before the police came, the shooter and his friends left the scene. Four persons were reportedly found at a nearby H-E-B and held for questioning, according to the police.

Police reported that the suspect was under arrest at around 3:40 p.m., but they haven’t disclosed his identification or any potential charges.
The weapon used by the suspect has been located. The H-E-B reportedly went into lockdown during the incident, but police have subsequently determined that it is safe to reopen, according to SAPD.
Although police searched the store as they looked for potential suspects, an H-E-B representative told KSAT that it is still open for business. Before being transported to a hospital by EMS, police moved the victim from inside the mall.
He was in critical condition last we checked. Both groups involved in the incident had preexisting relationships, according to SAPD.
Although the mall’s food court was shut down, there was no widespread evacuation of the building.
