HOUSTON — Police said Friday that they had arrested two men in connection with the shooting death of Migos rapper Takeoff. One of the men is being charged with murder.
Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, was arrested Thursday in Houston and charged with murder in the shooting on November 1. Cameron Joshua, who is 22 years old, has also been charged with illegally having a gun.
Takeoff, who was born Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed outside 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston at about 2:30 a.m. CDT. Sgt. Michael Burrow said that Takeoff was just “an innocent bystander” who got caught in the middle of a fight after a private party.
“At the event, there was a profitable dice game,” Burrow said on Friday. “Later, there was a fight outside the bowling alley, which is what led to the shooting. I can say for sure that Takeoff did not play the dice game. He didn’t have anything to do with the fight that happened outside. He didn’t have a gun.”
Chief Troy Finner said that Takeoff was “certainly in the wrong place at the wrong time.” “There is no evidence to suggest anything else,” he said.

The mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, said that “another young man killed another young man for no reason.”
Clark was found to be “the person who shot and killed” in the case, Burrow said. Chief Troy Finner also said that Joshua was charged because “he was there and had a gun, and he’s a convicted felon.”
Takeoff, his uncle Quavo, and his cousin Offset were the other two members of Migos. Quavo was with his nephew, Takeoff, when he was shot, and pictures show him kneeling over him after he was hit. Police are still looking into the shooting.
“We’re still trying to find and talk to a lot of people,” Burrow said. He added that about 30 people were outside when the shooting happened. None of these people talked to the police right away, but Burrow said that investigators have since found and talked to several of them.
