Here we are talking about Taylor Swift Will Direct Her First Full-length Movie From a Script She Wrote. Taylor Swift is once more behind the lens! According to a press release acquired by PEOPLE from Searchlight Pictures, Swift, 32, will make her debut as a director on a full-length movie with a screenplay she wrote.
The movie will be made by Searchlight, which has recently produced Academy Award-winning films like Guillermo del Toro’s 2017 picture The Shape of Water and Chloe Zhao’s 2020 drama Nomadland. Plot and casting details have not yet been revealed.
In a statement released on Friday, Searchlight presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield referred to the “Anti-Hero” singer as a “once-in-a-generation talent and storyteller.”
Greenbaum and Greenfield continued, “It is a genuine joy and privilege to partner with her as she sets off on this exciting and fresh creative path. Swift recently won praise and accolades for directing her own music videos as well as the 13-minute short film All Too Well: The Short Film, which was based on the 10-minute version of her well-known song “All Too Well” and was included in the reissued album Red (Taylor’s Version).

Swift recently earned a best directorial award at the 2022 MTV VMAs for the short film, which stars Sadie Sink from The Whale and actor Dylan O’Brien. This makes her the first solo artist to win the honor twice; she previously won for her work on the music video for her single “The Man.”
All Too Well: The Short Film was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022, and the film is qualified to be nominated for the upcoming 95th Academy Awards ceremony in March 2023 for Best Live Action Short Film.
Swift has already partnered with a “leading consulting firm to oversee the project’s awards campaign,” according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter from August.
The short film qualified for the forthcoming Oscars due to an eligibility window for the short film category that stretched from Oct. 1, 2021, to Sept. 30, 2022. It was released online and at the AMC Lincoln Square in New York City on Nov. 12, 2021.

Swift tweeted a nearly seven-minute behind-the-scenes video from the movie set on Thursday, showcasing her as she worked on various scenes with O’Brien, 31, and Sink, 20, for the movie. At the Toronto International Film Festival in September, the 11-time Grammy Award winner discussed filming All Too Well: The Short Film. She claimed that in order to finish the movie, she required the benefit of hindsight and time.

Swift described the project’s direction as “a baby steps procedure.” “You know what I want to do? It wasn’t like I woke up one day and said it. Direct.’ Due to the fact that I didn’t attend film school, I was never taught to tell myself that. I’ve worked on more than 60 music video sets. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge through that procedure.”
