Here we are talking about The Great Season 3 Release Date. Since 2020, the acclaimed “anti-historical” TV show has been able to win over fans of romance and drama. It is largely inspired on the life of Catherine the Great, the longest-reigning female tsar in Russian history. Through its two seasons of “an almost wholly untrue plot,” we have laughed, sobbed, and been gripped to the edge of our seats because of the show’s numerous cliffhangers.
The Great is packed with compelling drama, from double-crossing and court tension to outright civil war in the golden palace. It goes without saying that fans are anxious to see what will happen in the drama series’ next chapter.
Season 3 of The Great has fortunately already been confirmed. That’s right, it’s time to don your powdered wigs because Nicholas Hoult and Elle Fanning will be appearing as Peter III and Catherine, respectively.
You might be wondering what these royals will actually do in the upcoming season of the popular show. Or perhaps you’re wondering when and where you can go see it in person.
The Digital Fix is available to assist, though. We’ve gathered all the juicy rumors from Catherine’s court and are prepared to spill the beans. What is known about The Great season 3’s release date, storyline, cast, caravan, and other information is shown below.

The Great Season 3 Release Date: Expected
The release date for The Great season 3 is unknown as of January 2023. The third season of The Great is presently in production, which is wonderful news. The show was renewed, and Hulu announced in January 2022 that the new season would have ten episodes. Yay! The information was confirmed by a happy tweet.
The Great’s first season premiered on May 15, 2020, while season 2 didn’t reach our small screens until November 19, 2021, thanks in part to the Covid-19 pandemic. Given that lockdowns are no longer in place, it makes sense that the time between season 2 and season 3 won’t be as long this time (fingers crossed).
The third season of The Great will likely air at the earliest in late 2022, assuming a reasonable production schedule now that the pandemic is no longer significantly delaying production. As soon as we have additional information, we’ll make sure to let you know.
The Great Season 3 Potential Cast
Nobody will be surprised to learn that all of the prominent members of the royal court will return for The Great season 3. As the titular Queen Catherine, Elle Fanning will undoubtedly return. Nicholas Hoult will reprise his role as her careless husband, Peter.
Since most of them are still alive and—despite the fact that some are in prison—are not exiled—at least for the time being—will all be returning alongside the main couple.
As Catharine’s husband struggles with changing for the better and letting go of his claim to the throne, Jason Isaacs might also reappear as Peter the Great, Peter’s father. None of these, however, have been verified as of yet. As updates start to arrive, be sure to bookmark this guide.
Conjecture Regarding The Great Season 3 Trailer
Fans of Catherine, there is currently no trailer for The Great season 3. I’m afraid we are still in the dark on this one since filming hasn’t started and there isn’t any material for a season preview clip. However, as soon as the Emmy-nominated sitcom debuts its subsequent teaser, we’ll keep you updated.
The Great Season 3 Expected Plot
The Great season 3’s plot is currently unclear, but based on staff interviews and season 2’s cliffhanger, we have a good idea of what our favorite king or queen will be doing in the future.
We witnessed plenty of murder, heartbreak, and challenging relationships come to a head at the conclusion of season 2. In a stunning conclusion, Catherine’s diplomatic strategies result in her assassinating the Ottoman Empire’s Sultan and placing her under intense pressure to assassinate her deposed husband, Peter.
Peter too found himself in a tricky predicament as the struggle for the throne continued. The sly ex-royal of Sweden described how he must kill Catherine in order to live happily, forcing the imprisoned monarch to choose between his survival and his heart in front of his close friends.
So it appears that the husband and wife team is engaged in a new civil war of sorts. It’s all quite spicy, though, because this time they both have invested affection and sentiments in one another.
In the season 2 finale, Catherine made the decision to establish her reign once and for all by sobbing Peter in the back. It turns out, though, that she murdered a lookalike rather than her own husband (oops).
Peter came out to comfort her when he saw her feeling guilty, but they both found themselves in the terrible position of realizing that, despite loving one another, they both wanted to kill one another.
The third season will likely have the two attempting to come to an agreement where they can both live, with Peter continuing to show that he has matured and now truly loves his wife and son, Paul.
As opposed to the monster driven by the power that everyone saw in season 1 and who nearly drowned Catharine. The series creator, Tony McNamara, told Entertainment Weekly about the future of the program: “We leave the second season with everyone in a very, very different position. I suppose the third season is largely focused on the court and Catherine and Peter choosing what kind of guy he will ultimately be at the next level of leadership.
Her best friend Marial’s story will probably unfold together with Peter and Catherine’s future woes. Maria revealed to the Queen that Peter had slept with Joanna, the mother of Catherine, before inadvertently killing her.
The Queen immediately imprisoned Peter. Now that Catherine is undeniably in love with Peter, how will the two reconcile? Time will only tell. Archie, the debaucherous archbishop, is also still trying to rediscover his faith, and the war is likely to worsen as a result of Catherine’s interactions with the Sultan.
In summary, The Great season 3 has lots of material to cover, including delicious drama and tension. In fact, it appears that each of the show’s ten episodes will be crammed with the material.
Whatever the new season’s storyline may be, we already know that Catherine’s saga won’t finish there. Following this forthcoming entry, at least three more seasons are planned, executive producer Marian Macgowan said to Decider in 2020. She said, “We originally pitched six seasons. Therefore, we think we have enough material to last us till Catherine is an elderly woman.
