After its premiere on May 10, 2019, everyone was talking about The Society. The Netflix comedy was a huge smash on the streaming service, and its young, mostly unknown cast became stars. Season 2 was eagerly anticipated by fans, but it was not to be. Fans were understandably disappointed.

The Netflix original series is around a group of high school students who go on a camping trip. When they return home, they discover that they have been transported to a parallel dimension in which all of the grownups have vanished. The increased independence is first appealing, but things gradually spiral out of control. The youngsters are trying to figure out what happened to them while simultaneously attempting to maintain order among themselves.

In this modern take on Lord of the Flies, alliances are formed and enemies are established, with some not making it out alive. Cassandra (Rachel Keller) rises to prominence early on, but she is shockingly murdered off in episode three. The conclusion of the first season left a lot of room for a second season. Will There Be A ‘The Society’ Season 2

No, a second season will not be produced. Unfortunately, a second season of The Society will not be produced. The sitcom got renewed for a second season in July 2019, with filming set to begin in March 2020. Kathryn Newton, Alex Fitzalan, Kristine Froseth, Toby Wallace, Jacques Colimon, Gideon Adlon, Sean Berdy, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Olivia DeJonge, Salena Qureshi, Alex MacNicoll, Jack Mulhern, Spencer House, Emilio Garcia-Sanchez, Grace Victoria Cox, and José Julián were all expected to return. Netflix, on the other hand, overturned their decision in August 2020. Season 2 of The Society has been cancelled as of now.

Everyone Believes That The Society Season 2 Is Cancelled, Is It?

The COVID-19 epidemic was blamed by Netflix for the surprise termination of The Society season 2. In a statement released on August 21, 2020, Netflix said, “We’ve made the difficult choice not to move forward with second seasons of The Society and I Am Not Okay With This.”

The Society and I Am Not Okay With This were cancelled due to a lack of certainty about production schedules, balancing the requirements and availability of a huge ensemble [The Society], and unanticipated budget hikes due to COVID.

The Cast Of The Society Was Mostly Made Up Of Series Regulars

For season 2, Olivia Nikkanen, who played Gwen, was promoted to a series regular.

The cast, like the millions of admirers, was crushed by the cancellation. Kathryn Newton, who portrayed Allie, uploaded a screenshot of a Zoom conversation with the cast hours after the news was disclosed. She wrote, “I am proud,” with a heart emoji. Alex Fitzalan, who played Harry on the show, shared a series of images from his time on set. “I appreciate everyone’s patience in following along and waiting so long. I’m sorry, but there isn’t a chapter 2 to complete this storey. “BYE HARRY BINGHAM,” he wrote with a photo of Harry and Allie on Instagram.

The cancellation of the renewal was “very distressing,” according to creator Christopher Keyser. “We spent the last few months getting ready to go back, dealing with all the COVID protocols,” he told Variety. Season 1 Ending 

The first season of The Society concluded on a cliffhanger. Campbell (Toby Wallace), Lexie (Grace Victoria Cox), and Harry deposed Allie as New Ham’s commander. Allie and Will (Jacques Colimon) were kidnapped and held captive. After framing Allie and Will, Campbell, Harry, and Lexie chose to become New Ham’s new leaders.

Outside of New Ham, Grizz (Jack Mulhern), Bean (Salena Qureshi), and others located new, fertile territory to live on. When they return to New Ham, they discover Allie and Will have been arrested. The series concludes with a return to West Ham. Cassandra and Allie’s mother is seen reading a book to youngsters near to a memorial with the names of all the New Ham teenagers trapped.

Fans were left wondering if the teenagers were genuinely dead or if they were part of some sort of social experiment in the final scene. The Society never revealed the father of Becca’s kid, in addition to all the concerns regarding why the teenagers are stuck in New Ham. (Doesn’t it have to be Campbell?)

Allie does not appear afraid in the final scenes of the film, when she is being whisked away and screamed at. The look on Allie’s face in the finale was explained by Kathryn. “She rapidly understood the laws of power, one of which is not to divulge what you know.” In 2019, Kathryn told Refinery29, “She’s going to let someone fail.”

In November 2020, Kathryn chatted with HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY about The Society.

“One hundred percent they are endgame,” Kathryn remarked of Allie and Harry. That is all there is to it. They’re intended to be together. They were made for each other.” In season 2, she was “definitely hoping for some more Hallie content.”

Grace was quite interested in seeing the “chaos” in New Ham, which was led by Lexie, Campbell, and Harry. “I’d love to see Lexie attempting to govern New Ham and it just going terrible because of Campbell and the guard and Harry, and all of the turmoil that they’d get into, I think that would be incredibly entertaining to act in and for people to watch,” she told Cosmopolitan UK.

Season 2 was supposed to be “a plunge into greater depravity — the rules don’t hold,” according to the show’s creator, who spoke to Variety. He also mentioned that the show’s major mysteries would have been resolved. “We spent a lot of time discussing the reasons why West Ham’s children became New Ham’s children. What caused it, and how they might get back home,” he explained. The show was supposed to last for five seasons, according to Christopher.

Season 2 would have been much more deadly than the first, according to Christopher. While Allie and Cassandra “didn’t seek revenge on their opponents,” the programme was “coming to the point where characters are genuinely punishing individuals who disagree with them, and that’s a real concern” at the end of the season.
