Tyler Spindel will helm The Wrong Missy, a romantic comedy film based on a script by Chris Pappas and Kevin Barnett, when it opens in theatres in 2020. When David Spade unintentionally invites Lauren Lapkus to a company retreat because of an identification mix-up, it’s a hilarious mishap that has everyone laughing. To far, the film has gotten only poor reviews from reviewers when it premiered on Netflix on May 13, 2020.
When Tim meets Melissa, he calls her Missy, on a blind date. Tim’s life is made miserable by Missy’s outlandish antics. Tim is forced to dislocate his ankle as a consequence of her rambunctious behaviour and his escape from the restaurant via a window.
Three months later, Tim finds himself at an airport with a stunning lady called Melissa. They have a lot in common and seem to be a match made in heaven. She gives him her phone number at the end. He texts her and invites her to a business retreat in Hawaii. While aboard the aircraft, Tim realised he had mistaken Melissa for Missy. Tim is given a sedative by Missy, who sexually assaults him by giving him a handjob when he wakes up on the aircraft.
Jack Winstone, the company’s new CEO, extends a warm welcome to everybody in Hawaii. Missy is clumsy and rambunctious, and she often puts Tim in an unpleasant position in front of his coworkers and superiors. He wakes up at the motel to find her raping him in his sleep.
Tim is regularly humiliated by her erratic and drunken antics, which she often engages in. When she gets to know Tim better, she begins to hypnotise him to help him succeed at his business retreat. Tim starts to fall for her over time. When Winstone decides to hire Tim instead of Jess, Tim’s former coworker, Jess, is livid.
To prove Tim had no intention of inviting her to the party, Missy learns from Jess that she was invited there by mistake. Tim’s phone is checked by Missy, and she discovers the truth. She packs her bags and heads out of Hawaii, her heart broken and her spirit broken.
Meanwhile, Melissa herself has arrived in Hawaii, thanks to Jess’s kind invitation. In the restaurant, Tim mimics Missy’s first date behaviour by drinking many shots and doing a handstand. Tim departs Hawaii for Portland after telling her he has affections for someone else. Tim also manages to free Winstone of the hypnosis that Missy had induced, and as a result, Tim decides to leave his work.
A heartfelt apology is delivered by Tim to Missy, and he expresses his desire to be more like her in every way. They share a kiss after she has forgiven him.
