In a suburban Toronto condominium complex, a 73-year-old man shot and killed five people before being shot and killed by police. He said on his Facebook page that he would be appearing in court soon over a case he had filed alleging that the electrical room of the building was making him unwell.
Chief James MacSween of the York Regional Police identified Francesco Velli as the attacker in Sunday night’s incident in Vaughan, Ontario, during a news conference on Monday. He claimed that Velli shot three men, two women, and a 66-year-old person, injuring him and sending him to the hospital.
He claimed that three of the victims were condo board members.
Velli and the victims lived in the same building, according to the police, and an officer shot and killed him there.
Police are still looking into the attack’s motivation, according to MacSween.
Police discovered the bodies on various floors, according to Kristy Denette, a spokesperson for the Special Investigation Unit. She claimed that he was in possession of a semiautomatic weapon and that investigators don’t think he and the cop who killed him exchanged shots.
Villi posted videos on Facebook on Sunday and the days before the shooting when he discussed a legal dispute with the condo board.
He stated in the rambling videos that the electrical room was the cause of his health problems. His phone interactions with the attorneys working on his case are captured in the posts. The condo’s lawyer mentioned that the condo organization had ordered him to sell his apartment and leave it in one of the videos he posted on Sunday. MacSween described the scene as “horrendous” late Sunday.
According to the police chief, the victim of the suspect’s shooting was in the hospital and was expected to recover.

Police forced the building to be evacuated, but according to MacSween, the neighborhood is no longer in danger. On Monday, residents were permitted to go home early.
Steven Del Duca, mayor of Vaughan, declared that “everyone is shocked.” “We are completely shocked after hearing or seeing this news this morning. I never expected to see this here, to be honest.”
