Netflix was clear from the moment that Trinkets was renewed for Season 2 that it would be the show’s final season. Sources revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the streaming site was wary of being blamed for canceling shows too early, so they wanted to be straight with viewers that this would be the end of the series. The positive is that this allowed the writers to give the story a true climax, rather than having it surprisingly cut short. Not all of Netflix’s shows have been that lucky.
Like many other Netflix programes that were cancelled in 2019, Trinkets was able to give its characters a decent sendoff, unlike Santa Clarita Diet, Chambers, and Tuca and Bertie. “We seemed to have closed things up, at least in my mind. A part of us accepted the thought that this would be our last season,” Trinkets creator Kirsten “Kiwi” Kiwi said “Smith made the announcement earlier this month to Hollywood Life. “In my heart, I just want to know that [the characters] will always be friends. My favourite part of this season was the fact that we were able to leave it knowing that they’ll always be best friends to us. When they leave to college, we won’t have to see them apart.”
