Cobra Kai Season 5 has finished filming, and Netflix has yet to announce a release date. Most experts believe the movie will be released in the summer of 2022, but we’ll have to wait and see. Here’s a look at everything we know so far about the fifth season of Cobra Kai on Netflix, including the production schedule, what to expect, cast news, and the show’s future.
To date, Cobra Kai has been one of Netflix’s most popular continuations, ranking alongside Lucifer and Money Heist. A large and loyal fanbase already existed when the series was on YouTube Red/Original, but when it moved to Netflix, the series’ popularity skyrocketed.

Cobra Kai Season 5 Has Already Come to an End.
It has been stated by Josh Heald that the fifth season will be written as early as July 2021.
On September 20, 2021, filming began and finished on December 19, 2021.
It was confirmed on Twitter by Cobra Kai co-creators Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald, who posted a picture with the caption “Five. Fin.”

Atlanta, Georgia, was the site of yet another major episode shoot. However, this season we’ll be on the road because Miguel is looking for his father in Mexico, so we’ll be on the road a lot. Since then, Jon Hurwitz has confirmed that Puerto Rico was the location for those parts of Season 5.
Post-production began, and in early March 2022, we received a tweet from the show’s long-time composer, Zach Robinson, announcing that the fifth season’s soundtrack was in the works.
He and Leo Birenberg were confirmed to be returning in a Tweet from March 3rd, 2022, revealing that they were in the process of scoring episodes 1 through 3.
On April 17th, Jon Hurwitz gave us an update on season 5 during an unscheduled Twitter AMA, saying:
I can’t wait to see what the S5 has in store for us! Still mixing the second half and collaborating with our composers on the score. Great to hear some brand-new music.
It will be sent to Netflix for localization, which entails loading subtitles for dozens of languages, dubbing, and getting it ready for release on Netflix, once the score and editing have been completed.
When will the Cobra Kai Season 5 be released?
However, with filming over, we can give you a rough estimate of when the fifth season of Cobra Kai will be released, and it is expected that we’ll get it sooner than previous seasons, which have all been released around Christmas.
Between January 20th, 2021, and April 15th, 2021, the fourth season was filmed. In December 2021, it was finally released. It’s possible the fifth season will be released in July or August of 2022 if it follows the same release schedule as the fourth season.
Netflix has the final say, according to Josh Heald, who has predicted that the third season will follow the same release schedule as the first two.

Cobra Kai Season 5: What to Expect
Terry Silver becomes the new leader of Cobra Kai and the Valley.
Terry Silver is free to take over Cobra Kai and spread his vision for the dojo now that Kreese has been framed for the attack on Sting Ray.
As new Cobra Kai dojos spring up all over the Valley, tensions between Cobra Kai and the students of competing dojos are possible given the anticipated influx of new students.
According to Hurwitz, we can expect to see Silver’s plans “fully realized” in season 5, with the Cobra Kai franchise growing.
Miyagi Do must go to war (Again)
Miyagi-Do dojo owner Daniel LaRusso has decided to defy his own promise and continue teaching students despite Cobra Kai’s dishonorable attempt to win the All Valley Tournament.
Daniel has enlisted the help of Chozen Toguchi, an old foe turned new friend and the sensei of Miyagi-Do karate in Okinawa, in his battle against Cobra Kai.
When asked about Chozen’s return in Cobra Kai season 5, executive producer Josh Heald said the following to TV Line:
Chozen is clearly returning to the fold, and Daniel, who we find at the depths of his loss, is feeling defeated and believing that he made a deal with the devil. The idea of allowing Miyagi-Do to be extinguished this way is making him uncomfortable. When the fight has to change, what better time than for Chozen to return and lean into that aspect of Miyagi-Do.
Chozen is a person who reflects a more aggressive era in which fighting was not just a competition, but a matter of life and death. Despite Daniel’s forgiveness, he still feels obligated to make amends and help him. Season 5 will kick off with a bang, at least according to what I’ve heard. As the season progresses, a number of storylines begin to spin out of control.
Does Anthony Have Any Plans to Take Up Karate?
Trying to make amends with a Cobra Kai student after Anthony’s relentless bullying of new kid Kenny, he tried to make amends with the bully at the All Valley tournament, but the bully stated his intention to become the bully when they graduate high school.
For his own safety, Anthony may be forced to learn karate from Daniel, who was prepared to begin the process.
It’s going to be a great year for my character, Griffin Santopietro told AfterBuzz TV.
“Anthony’s continued development is one of my favorite aspects of the upcoming season.” He regrets what he did to Kenny,” he says.
Is Cobra Kai going to lose Robby and Tory?
However, Robby continues to search for the middle ground between Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai’s beliefs. Since Kenny is a bully who intends on bullying his ex-little girlfriend’s brother because of Kenny, the young man has sought the help and support of his father.
In spite of Johnny’s encouragement, Robby may choose to stay with Cobra Kai in order to make up for his mistakes by tutoring Kenny.
As for Tory, the All Valley’s women’s champion, she overheard Terry bribing the referee, tainting her victory to the core. The same fate awaits her as Robby, who was forced to leave Cobra Kai at the same time.
Miguel discovers his father.
To Miguel, his biological father is completely unaware that he exists. As a “bad man,” Miguel’s father could open a door in his life that he will never be able to shut.
When Johnny sets out on a search for Miguel, he knows he’ll get himself into all kinds of trouble if he gets into an argument with Miguel’s father.
If Johnny is successful in persuading Miguel to return home, his father will not be far behind.
Kreese is now in prison.
Even more, ironically, ex-student Johnny Lawrence might be able to save the Cobra Kai sensei, who has been falsely accused of assaulting Sting Ray. He may be Kreese’s only hope of getting out of prison once Johnny returns from Mexico, as Terry Silver assaulted him.
Who are the Cobra Kai season 5 cast members?
Season 4’s cast is expected to return in force for season 5 of Cobra Kai:
It’s casting time!
Despite the fact that filming for the fifth season has already wrapped up, we still don’t know who Miguel’s father will be.
This isn’t the first time that hints of returning characters have surfaced at the end of previous seasons. Season 5 has yet to be teased, but given Terry Silver’s return in Karate Kid 3, fans have speculated about his old pals Mike Barnes and Sean Kanan from the third film. We’ll have to wait and see if they do appear.
Jon Hurwitz has commented on the possibility of new faces appearing in Cobra Kai season 5:
A lot of crazy stuff is going to happen; if you’re a fan of the franchise, you might recognize some of the characters or not; there’s going to be a lot of karate, I guarantee it.
Is there going to be the sixth season of Cobra Kai?
Netflix has yet to announce whether or not Cobra Kai will return for a sixth season. Netflix announced the fifth season’s release date with the announcement of season 4’s release date.
Season 5 of Cobra Kai is expected to premiere around the time that the sixth season is announced.
Moreover, Netflix hasn’t stated in advance that season 5 is the final season, which strongly suggests that we’ll be seeing more of Cobra Kai in the future.
Hayden Schlossberg recently spoke to Deadline about the possibility of a sixth season, and he said:
“We’re working towards a goal. We don’t know how many seasons it will take to get there. We’re having a blast putting it together. We’ll stop sooner rather than later if we get tired of it; we’ve got a few more seasons in the works.”
According to multiple reports, the show has been planned for six seasons, and we hope they get to see it through.
There have been numerous reports (including some from reputable sources) claiming that a Cobra Kai spinoff has been planned or is currently in development. Prequel Miyagi series rumors have surfaced recently.
On April 17th, Hurwitz announced that he was working on new projects:
We have a company called Counterbalance Entertainment with Josh, Hayden, and myself. Beyond Cobra Kai, there’s a lot of fun to be had both inside and outside of the Miyagiverse. I’ll be announcing some exciting new developments soon!
Before we go, we’d like to recommend that you check out Cobra Kai Kid’s YouTube channel. Since then, he has done an excellent job reporting on Cobra Kai’s latest developments.
He was just in town recently and caught up with Zach Robinson and Leo Birenberg for interviews.
