Eric Vassar, a junior at UConn, said, “It’s a high traffic area, and the thing is you got bars down the road, and everyone’s out late at night. ” “Many people are crossing the street at odd times. Sometimes people indeed drive above the 35 or 40-mph limit here. Undoubtedly a dangerous area. According to the spokesperson, the driver is not connected to the school.
The names of the driver or the student have not been made public. The student appeared to have walked in front of the car, which did not have time to stop, according to preliminary witness interviews and video, according to a UConn spokesperson. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
