On Wednesday, Universal Pictures revealed that it is creating a biopic about Snoop Dogg’s life, which the 51-year-old rapper will produce. ‘Black Panther co-writer Joe Robert Cole will pen the screenplay, and ‘Menace II Society director Allen Hughes will helm the project.
‘I waited a long time to put this project together because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect writer, and the greatest movie company I could partner with that could understand the legacy that I’m trying to portray on screen,’ Snoop said in a statement. Not holy macaroni, but holy matrimony.
Cole stated the studio “has demonstrated they can guide a movie like this to something amazing” Universal already adapted the history of the rap group N.W.A. into the popular 2015 movie “Straight Outta Compton” and also released the acclaimed Eminem biopic “8 Mile” in 2002.
