Here we are talking about an Employee of a Utah Ski Resort Accident Dies After a Tree Hits a Chairlift. A tree collapsed on the chairlift at the Park City ski resort where he worked, killing a 29-year-old Utah man this week.
According to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, the guy fell off the lift chair into a steep snow ravine. He was identified by authorities as Christian Helger on Wednesday, according to Salt Lake City’s NBC affiliate KSL.
Helger fell when chairs started to rise and fall on Monday morning, according to investigators, who believe a pine tree struck the cable behind his chair. At 11:25 a.m., ski patrol contacted authorities to request an airlift, but the man was unresponsive and attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.
The man was an employee, according to a statement from Park City Mountain Resort vice president Deirdra Walsh. The Park City Mountain crew and the whole Vail Resorts team send their condolences and support to the victim’s family and friends, according to Walsh.
“We will be supporting our staff as we lament this awful loss,” the company said after the unfortunate tragedy. Ten further passengers on the lift were successfully saved by the Park City Mountain ski patrol.
