According to an autopsy report issued Wednesday by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office, former NFL wide receiver Vincent Jackson died from “chronic alcohol use.”
Jackson, who was 38 years old at the time of his death, was discovered in a Florida hotel room with a blood-alcohol percentage of 0.28%, according to the accompanying toxicology report.

Jackson had CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, according to the postmortem report. His family revealed last week that Boston University scientists had diagnosed the three-time Pro Bowl pick with stage 2 CTE at the time of his death. The fourth stage is the worst.
