On Tuesday evening, the Ward Parkway Center mall was the location of a call to the Kansas City police department reporting shots fired. Officer Donna Drake, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, stated in an emailed statement that there were no reports of anyone being injured.
According to Drake, the incident was reported to the authorities at approximately 6:45 p.m., when they received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at the mall. Due to the severity of the situation, the police department requested assistance from the entire city, to which several law enforcement agencies from the surrounding area responded.
When officers arrived at the shopping center, they checked the stores inside to look for victims and suspects. According to the police, there were no injured victims; nevertheless, several people categorized as “subjects of interest” were arrested.
