Fatshark is currently developing and publishing a first-person action game titled Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, which is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Release dates for Windows PCs are set for 30 November 2022, with Xbox Series X/S versions coming “shortly after.”
Author Dan Abnett is behind the game’s plot, which centres on a group of Inquisitorial Agents in the Hive City of Tertium on the planet Atoma Prime looking into rumours of a Chaos infiltration. Similar to a live service, the plot is planned to expand over time, with new episodes dropping in each week and the overall story arc already established. The strategy is similar to that of the Destiny 2 campaign.

Warhammer Darktide Gameplay
This game will follow a similar structure to Fatshark’s Warhammer: Vermintide 2, in which four players work together to fend off waves of AI-controlled opponents. Players will be able to make their own unique characters by selecting their preferred race, gender, and class. A Veteran, a Zealot, an Ogryn, and a Psyker are the four classes available. A renewable shield will be used by all classes.
The same location will serve as the setting for many missions, unlike in Vermintide 2, with some of those missions featuring branching paths to better rewards. We’ll be able to adjust the challenge by changing both the number of adversaries and the amount of damage they deal.
Random prizes, in-game money that can be used to buy weapons, and a contract system that can be used to obtain a weapon of your choosing will all contribute to your advancement. The player can improve their weapons and their overall stats through crafting.

Warhammer Darktide Development
Fatshark initially unveiled the game in July 2020 at the Xbox Series X and Series S showcase event, where they demonstrated plans for a 2021 release. The game’s gameplay trailer was released on 10 December 2020, showcasing the use of weaponry like the Lasgun and the chain sword against waves of Poxwalkers and chaos traitors.
Among the playable characters, an Imperial Guardsman and an Ogryn might be observed. Devs have stated that melee and ranged combat will be more evenly balanced in Darktide compared to Vermintide 2.
It was stated in July 2021 that the release date has been moved back from 2021 to spring 2022 due to complications stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. The release date was again pushed out to 13 September 2022 in an announcement that was accompanied by a new teaser. The release date was initially set for November 2021 but was later pushed back to November 30 of the same year.
Warhammer Darktide Release Date
On November 30, 2022, Warhammer 40,000 Darktide will be made available to the public.
Who Are the Enemies?
Nurgle, the Chaos god of plague, has a surprising sense of humour and is the mastermind behind everything. In his never-ending quest to bring all of humanity into his garden—a putrid organic realm of existence—Grandfather Nurgle, the Lord of Decay, tirelessly experiments with new strains of the illness. Going to Nurgle’s garden is a bad idea.
We will be facing out against a growing cult of plague worshippers in Darktide known as The Admonition. The trailers have shown hordes of pox walkers, the corrupted zombie masses of 40K, and they make sense as low-level fodder in a Left 4 Dead-style game. Furthermore, we witness armed cultists, some of whom can be recognised as traitor guards due to their auto guns and armour (which has been upgraded with spikes, of course).

An infected Chaos ogryn appears at the end of several trailers, and the dog that appears out of nowhere is almost certainly a Chaos hound.
In addition to the Nurgle henchmen already mentioned, there are many others from 40K that could be used in Darktide. In Vermintide, we had already fought Chaos spawn and Nurgle’s daemonic minions. The Plaguebearers, the smaller daemons, make for terrific elites, while one of the Great Unclean Ones, the greater daemons, could be the grand conclusion of the campaign, but it’s unlikely that a band of brave acolytes would have a chance against one of those big, burly guys.
