Dog Catches Monkeypox From Owners Latest Update

An Italian greyhound is believed to have contracted monkeypox from people after sharing a bed with his infected owners.

Twelve days after his owners developed monkeypox, the four-year-old dog developed lesions, “including abdominal pustules,”

according to the medical journal The Lancet. Although monkeypox has been proven to be carried by

wild animals, this is the first instance of an infection in a domesticated animal that has been documented.
