Welcome to Derry Plot
The series supposedly occurred in the 1960s, before the Losers Club came together. It will explore where the evil clown Pennywise sprang from. Given that the monster returns every 27 years, the show may examine how Pennywise’s violence has persisted for so long without being stopped. The novel has been a standard in the horror genre from the pages of King’s 1986 novel to Muschietti’s 2017 and 2019 reboots.
Pennywise, the Dancing Clown, terrorizes the town of Derry, and the films follow its inhabitants. In the first film, we see the kids who would later become known as the Losers Club in the 1960s, and in the second, they are adults who return to their small town after Pennywise makes another appearance. In the most recent big-screen rendition, Bill Skarsgard played the role of the homicidal clown.
As revealed by Warner’s past works, a look into Pennywise’s history shows that the monster has been terrorizing Derry for at least 36 years, if not millennia. No background information on Pennywise was ever given; however, the Losers’ Club did acknowledge his significance in several pivotal events.
This new prequel series on HBO Max hopes to change that. With the help of Warner’s past works, we now know that Pennywise has been around for 36 years and that he has had a terrible impact on Derry for centuries. The Losers Club acknowledged Pennywise’s importance in several pivotal events, but his backstory was never fully developed. The purpose of the upcoming HBO Max prequel series is to change that.
When this article was being produced, we did not have any information regarding the availability of Welcome to Derry on HBO Max. According to Collider, they believe it will be released sometime in 2023. We have reason to suspect that the series will debut in 2023, right around the time of Halloween, which would be fantastic.
