While awaiting his school bus in Lake Wales on Friday morning, a 13-year-old was hit and murdered, according to the police. Around 6:15 am, a deadly collision occurred on Miami Street and Dr. J.A. Wiltshire Avenue. Jadin Galindo, according to Lake Wales police, was struck by a 2013 GMC Sierra pickup truck as he waited for his bus. Police said that after being transferred to Lake Wales Advent Health, the boy passed away.

The Lake Wales student, who attended McLaughlin Middle School, was sitting about 30 feet off Dr. J.A. Whiltshire Avenue in a paved alleyway when it was dark and cloudy, according to authorities. According to authorities, there were no street lights in the vicinity.

According to the authorities, the pickup vehicle turned north into the alley and struck Galindo. According to authorities, neither the pickup’s 47-year-old Bartow driver nor its 33-year-old Bartow passenger suffered any injuries. In a news statement, police said, “Our hearts grieve for all those involved and the death of such a young man.”

Speed and intoxication, according to officials, played no part in the collision. The Lake Wales Police Department’s 863-678-4223 number is the number to call if you have any information concerning the collision. You can also call Heartland Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-226-TIPS (8477). A probe is still being conducted.
