Here we are talking about Whitstable Pearl Season 2. Given the success of the first season, the announcement that Whitstable Pearl Season 2 will air on Acorn TV is not particularly surprising.
The popular books The Whitstable Pearl Mysteries by Julie Wassmer were the inspiration for the Kent-based murder drama, which was a worldwide sensation and left fans clamoring for more. We are also happy to see the return of the three key cast members, Kerry Godliman, Howard Charles, and Frances Barber.
You won’t have to wait too long if, like us, you binge-watched Kerry Godliman’s amateur sleuth Pearl and company in The Whitstable Pearl Season 1’s six-episode box set on Acorn TV.
Whitstable Pearl is returning for a new season, and Julie Wassmer says: “Knowing how well Whitstable Pearl has been received across so many territories, I’m sure viewers will be as excited as I am to know the series is returning for a new season in which Pearl will be immersed in more crime, family drama, and a compelling will-they-won’t-they love affair – all set against the stunning backdrop of Whitstable’s mysterious coast – with a to-die.
The Release Date of Whitstable Pearl Season 2
Season 2 of Whitstable Pearl premieres on November 28, 2022. In the US, UK, New Zealand, and Australia, Acorn TV will be the only place to watch the series’ exclusive premiere.

Whitstable Pearl Season 2 — Where the first Season left us
The first season of Whitstable Pearl features Pearl Nolan, who manages a prosperous seafood restaurant in her native Whitstable, Kent, but secretly longs to work as a detective. But when she discovers her buddy Vinnie’s dead body, she poses as a private investigator and joins forces with out-of-town detective DCI Mike McGuire (Howard Charles) to investigate Vinnie’s homicide and other murders in the lovely seaside town.
It appears that this might be excellent news for fans since the show was adapted from Julie Wassmer’s best-selling books The Whitstable Pearl Mystery and Disappearance at Oare, and there are still a tonne of Whitstable Pearl books in the series that are simply begging to be adapted for television.
There are some significant spoilers on this page if you haven’t finished the series yet. Here, we examine where the first season left off and the information we currently have regarding a potential Whitstable Pearl season 2.
Whitstable Pearl season 1’s final episode showed her looking into her father Flash’s passing. When it came to his life and death, her mother Dolly (played by Frances Barber) was steadfastly silent, and it became clear that Pearl had been mistaken about Flash’s identity as a hero.
Pearl and Mike find out that Flash committed suicide rather than being killed. However, Pearl felt manipulated by Mike’s inability to shut off from work and ended their young, if rather rocky, relationship. The breakup of their relationship shocked many, therefore let’s hope they get back together in Whitstable Pearl season 2!
Whitstable Pearl Season 2 episodes and plot summary
Here is our comprehensive Whitstable Pearl season 2 episode guide.
Episode 1
After six months, Mike (Howard Charles) and Pearl (Kerry Godliman) are still close friends. Mike has regained his zest for life, and his pursuit of open-air swimming has brought him into contact with Kat, a cheery, gregarious lady who lives in perpetual optimism.
The definition of a “good guy, is” Tom is a supply teacher who has recently entered Pearl’s life. Dan Tomlin, a local ex-soldier whose kid has vanished in mysterious circumstances, hires Pearl.
Episode 2
Mike, who is bedridden due to a broken ankle, notices a strange neighbor who experiences night terrors. Mike asks Pearl to join him in his investigation because he believes there is wrongdoing going on. It’s not who either of them expected when a body turns up.
Episode 3
Molly, who is despised by residents of Whitstable because she intends to sell a cherished neighborhood bar that was originally owned by her mother to the highest bidder rather than returning it to the community, hires Pearl. Threatening anonymous notes have been sent to Molly, and a dead seagull has even appeared on her doormat.
Molly has had enough, and she wants Pearl to stop the notes and find out who is responsible. The tavern is sold to a former Londoner who later washes up dead on Whitstable Beach after being purchased off the open market. Mike and Pearl collaborate to identify the offender.
Episode 4
Natalia, a cleaner who fears for the safety of her employer, hires Pearl. She worries that Zelda’s relatives would harm her because Natalia is now the primary beneficiary of her boss, 1970s cinema legend Zelda St John (Stephanie Beacham).
Soon after, Zelda is discovered at home unconscious and bruised from a croquet mallet attack. Natalia vanishes, and her guilt is assumed. Pearl believes Natalia has been set up by the family and respects her. Mike and Pearl conduct separate investigations while they wait for Zelda to recover consciousness. They disagree on who is to blame.
Episode 5
Dolly discovers strange occurrences in her home, including the radio being turned to the wrong station, the shower being left on even though she hasn’t used it, and money disappearing and then reappearing. She pays her daughter Pearl to conduct the investigation.
Although Pearl worries her mother may be exhibiting early symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, she has security cameras installed to appease her mother. She and her mother discover a solution to the issues after seeing the video from the house one week later that neither of them could have reasonably predicted.
Episode 6
Adnan and Laila’s wedding is catered by Pearl under the brilliant lights of a neighboring amusement park. Pearl observes heated exchanges and tensions escalating between the groom and his guests as they mingle.
Pearl finds Laila stabbed to death in the hall of mirrors after Pearl and Ruby steal away for some fun there. When suspicious texts are discovered on the groom’s phone, he is detained along with his mother.
Along with Mike and Nikki, Pearl, who believes he is innocent, pursues clues from the wedding to determine who might have wanted the bride killed and why.
Whitstable Pearl season 2 cast — Kerry Godliman, Howard Charles, and Frances Barber return
Kerry Godliman is playing Pearl once more in Whitstable Pearl. I’m excited to reprise my role as Pearl for a second season “Kerry claims. “She is such a wonderful character to get lost in, and I enjoy her love of Whitstable, justice, oysters, and perhaps a certain DCI as well. I am really excited!
It is evident from how she has previously discussed the show that she still cares deeply about it. I enjoy a good whodunit, and Whitstable Pearl has some humor, but it’s not overly sincere, Kerry observed. I had never performed as a lead, but I like it.
Cases involving Pearl and Mike McGuire’s police inquiries cross paths. Their competitiveness and intense attraction for one another fuel their relationship. When they compete, tensions rise and sparks fly. They create a fantastic team when they collaborate. In the previous episode, Mike left Pearl when she informed him that she needed some space by driving away.
But despite their sporadic relationship, which had us all fascinated, Howard Charles, who played Mike in The Musketeers, did return. Frances Barber, a former Doctor Who star, is back as the silly yet endearing Dolly. As Pearl’s son Charlie, Rohan Ned was also a fan favorite, and it appears that he will also be participating in any upcoming series.
