The June 16 release of Legacies’ season, (9/8c), will serve as its series finale after CW halted the production of the series.
It will be the first time in 13 years that CW will not air a show from that series this.
The CW has already had seven series cancelled on May 12 alone, and this is likely caused by the rumoured sale of the network.
Julie Plec, the show’s executive producer, had this to say after it was cancelled
“It’s the Red Wedding at WBTV/CW today. Much more to say, but not today. Loads of gratitude coming for fans and cast and crew in future tweets. But today, we mourn.”
Legacies was chosen by readers as the bubble show they wanted most to be renewed, but it wasn’t to be.
The show had averaged 760,000 viewers and a 0.2 demo rating (after Live+7) as of April 26, down from its Season 3 ratings (1 mil/0.3).
Legacies centered around vampire-werewolf-witch “tribrid” Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell).
The show focused on her years at the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, a magical institution in Mystic Falls run – for better or for worse – by Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis).
