Florida’s YBOR CITY – Early on Sunday morning, a 20-year-old man was tragically shot in Ybor City. The victim was attacked and fatally shot by 21-year-old Jatony Tykeese Torres after many individuals engaged in a physical altercation near the intersection of N 16th Street and E 7th Avenue just before three in the morning, according to the Tampa Police Department.

The victim passed away after being brought in serious condition to a local hospital. In order to clear the throng as bars and clubs closed, several officers were on the site when the shooting took place.

According to TPD, the moment the officers heard the sound of gunfire, they started after Torres, who was running away on foot. At the intersection of 16th St. and E. 4th Ave., three blocks south, according to the police, they caught him. The police also found a gun.

First-degree premeditated murder is the alleged offense against Torres. The second person who was armed and fired a weapon during the incident is being sought by Tampa police. There is, however, no proof that he struck anyone. After a shooting, a police cruiser and crime scene tape are seen in Ybor City.

A man who allegedly shot and badly injured another man in Ybor City has been detained by police. Call the Tampa Police Department at 813-231-6130 if you have any information on this ongoing investigation, or submit information through Tip411 on the Tampa PD app.

For information that results in the identification and capture of suspects in an unsolved crime or the capture of a wanted fugitive, Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay will pay prizes of up to $5,000. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477 if you have any information on any ongoing criminal investigations and want to be eligible for a cash prize.
