Zane Rupert Obituary
A youngster from Knoch Middle School, aged 12, was killed in an accident on Friday night in Butler County. Both Zane D. Rupert, age 12, and his grandfather, David A. Faulx, age 65, were killed in the crash that occurred in Winfield Township. The incident occurred on Friday night on Winfield Road just before 10 o’clock. State troopers reported that both Faulx and Rupert had been declared deceased at the site.
Faulx, driving a Jeep Wrangler north on Winfield Road, allegedly collided with another vehicle as he prepared to do a sudden right turn, as reported by state police. Faulx’s Jeep struck a northbound Peterbilt truck head-on after he allegedly entered the curve too quickly. The Jeep flipped over and came to rest on its roof next to the road.

Police identified the Peterbilt driver as 29-year-old Hunter T. Cathcart of Clarion, who sustained minor injuries in the collision. The arrangements for Faulx and Rupert have been entrusted to Fox Funeral Home in Saxonburg. Natrona Heights is where Faulx began his life. He was employed by Siemens as a tool and die manufacturer. His two daughters and wife of 44 years, Cheryl Faulx, are among his survivors.
Josh Rupert and Lindsay (Faulx) Bandi had him as their son. He played flag football for the Saxonburg Spartans when he was in seventh grade at Knoch Middle School. David Drane, president of the Spartans, said that everyone was devastated by the news of Rupert’s death.
