B Positive and the United States of Al, both produced by Chuck Lorre, have been in the running for best picture awards both years in a row. Ultimately, both of them were renewed last year. This time around, as Deadline reported last month, there was chatter that only one of the two might join Lorre’s Young Sheldon and Bob Hearts Abishola on the 2022-23 schedule, with B Positive having an edge.
In light of the United States of Al‘s cancellation, B Positive‘s renewal odds look a little brighter but that program too is heavily on the bubble. Also lingering on the bubble at CBS are thriller Magnum P.I., which had been stuck in renewal negotiations with lead studio Universal TV; freshman comedy How We Roll; and freshman drama Good Sam, which is not looking good.

United States Of Al Season 3 Storyline
Overall, there have been no significant alterations to the situation in the “United States of Al”. Al, having recently come from Afghanistan to America to live with Riley, is still trying his utmost to function as the mediator between Riley and his estranged wife Vanessa.
Things have gotten better as communication between the two has increased, but the fact of the matter is that both are still a long way away from getting back together as Al desires. This is especially true with Vanessa’s lover, Freddy (Brian Thomas Smith), still in the scene.
Even so, things are getting better for our heroes slowly but surely. Riley filed for disability benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs at the end of season one. This may be a critical step in helping him heal from his traumatic experiences as a soldier in Afghanistan.

Finally, it is impossible to disregard the possibility that the plot of “United States of Al” will choose to handle the current situation in Afghanistan. In order to avoid making matters worse, it is imperative that whoever is in charge of the show exercise extreme caution when addressing this issue. The second season of the United States of Al has a fair possibility of making or breaking the show as a whole.
