2 Women Killed, 1 Critically Injured in Lake County Crash
Two women died, and another woman got badly hurt in a crash in the northern area on Wednesday morning, said the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. They got a call about a crash with injuries at Fairfield and Chardon roads in Fremont Township around 8 a.m.
When they arrived, they found a Nissan and a dump truck smashed together, both badly damaged. The police said a 44-year-old man from Round Lake was driving the dump truck north on Fairfield, coming up to Chardon. At the same time, a 48-year-old woman from Waukegan was driving the Nissan west on Chardon. The sheriff’s office said the Nissan had a stop sign, but the truck didn’t.
It is said that the Nissan pulled into the intersection ahead of the truck. According to the authorities, the truck hit the driver’s side of the Nissan, rolled over, and spilled loose concrete.
On the spot, the driver of the Nissan was declared dead. In the Nissan’s rear seat was a 55-year-old woman from Round Lake Beach who also passed away at the scene. The woman in the Nissan’s front seat, 45 years old from Round Lake Beach, suffered serious injuries.
The deceased people’s identities were not immediately known. There were no injuries to the dump truck driver. The Technical Crash Investigations Team of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the incident.
