The family of racing champion Ryan Fellows from Street Outlaws: Fastest in America has filed a wrongful death case in Los Angeles Superior Court. They assert that Fellows’ death was caused by gross carelessness during a street racing that took place on a Nevada route. Among those mentioned were Warner Bros. Discovery and Lions Gate Entertainment.

In the Las Vegas desert, on a “dusty, weather-beaten, rough asphalt route,” were the drag races that resulted in Fellows’ death last year. The lawsuit stated that the venue “didn’t meet any of the industry safety criteria” for drag racing. The defendants reportedly had control over multiple accidents at the site and had the chance to move the races but chose not to.

“We will never stop sending Ryan’s family members and the Street Outlaws clan our sincere condolences. We are unable to comment on ongoing litigation, according to a Discovery spokeswoman.

Fellows lost control at the finish line while competing against another driver early on Sunday morning outside of Las Vegas, according to a source cited by TMZ. The Nissan 240z, a gold car, flipped over and caught fire. Fellows was unsuccessfully pulled out of the blazing automobile by onlookers.

The collision that resulted in Ryan Fellows’ untimely death “left the Street Outlaws family heartbroken,” a Discovery spokeswoman said in a statement to Deadline. “We offer Ryan’s loved ones our sincere condolences as they cope with this unexpected and tragic loss.”
