Andrew Clement Serkis was born on April 20, 1964, in the English town of Ruislip Manor, in the county of Middlesex. An Armenian gynecologist and an English teacher raised Andy. He and his siblings often spent their vacations in the Middle East. Before going to Lancaster University, Serkis went to a Roman Catholic school. Andy went to college and studied theatre and visual arts. He graduated in 1985. He also got involved with the radio station at the university and put on several plays.
Serkis was in the lead roles in school plays by the end of his first year of college. This is what made him decide to switch his major to acting. Andy Serkis Career
After getting his Equity card, Serkis toured a lot with several theatre companies. By the 1990s, he was ready to stay in London, where he performed in some of the best theatres in the city. During this time, he also started to get his first TV roles.
