Austin Majors, a former child actor best remembered for his seven seasons on NYPD Blue as Detective Andy Sipowicz, the son of Dennis Franz, tragically passed away from a fentanyl overdose.
A report was released on Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office listing Austin Setmajor’s cause of death as fentanyl intoxication and his mode of death as accidental. Majors used his birth surname Setmajor after his acting career.

Majors was characterized as “a loving, artistic, brilliant, and kind human being” in a family statement issued by Majors’ sister and former child actress Kali Majors-Raglin, which was received by Deadline upon his passing.

He had a genuine desire to bring joy to others ever since he was a tiny boy, and he never met a stranger. While he was a kid, he and his family and the Boy Scout troop enjoyed going on camping trips and going fishing.
Sunny, his dog, and Balla, his childhood horse, were his worlds. Not only was he an enthusiastic Eagle Scout and community member, but he also graduated as high school salutatorian. His enthusiasm for directing and music production led him to graduate from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
