The anthology series, which takes place in the past, present, and future and examines how various forms of technology and screens — hence the name “Black Mirror” — may transform our lives, sometimes for the better, but often for the worse, has been hailed with critical praise and tremendous popularity. Although some episodes are clearly superior to others, the show’s cultural impact is evident, and going two years without seeing fresh stories from Charlie Brooker’s mind has been challenging.
To help pass the time, we’ve decided to look at all of the existing information about the future of “Black Mirror” and make some educated assumptions about when we might be able to watch Season 6, as well as what tales and performers we might see within it.
It’s been a long time since we’ve had any new episodes of “Black Mirror.” In fact, it’s the longest hiatus the show has ever seen since its premiere in 2011, even after the delay of its fifth season, with it having been over two years since then.
To make the wait a little more bearable, we’ve decided to take a look at all the information currently available about the future of “Black Mirror” and make some educated guesses at when we might be able to see Season 6, as well as what stories and actors we could see within it.
Unfortunately, no official word on whether or not Season 6 of “Black Mirror” will air, let alone when it will. Despite the fact that the programme hasn’t been officially cancelled, it appears to be on indefinite pause, with creator and writer Charlie Brooker claiming that the horrors of 2020 may dampen spectators’ desire for the dystopian series. Instead, Brooker contributed to the writing and production of the Netflix comedy special “Death to 2020,” which was released at the end of the year. We don’t know what he’s been up to this year, but it’s possible he’s been working on new season writing, just as it’s equally likely he hasn’t.

Whatever the case, it’s safe to assume that a new season would take at least a year to produce, which means that if writing began in January 2021 after Brooker concluded “Death to 2020,” a new season of “Black Mirror” would most likely premiere in early 2022.

Something More About The Show
“Black Mirror” is an anthology series, which means that each episode has a completely different ensemble of individuals. There have been outliers, such as Hannah John-Kamen, Michaela Coel, and Daniel Lapaine, who have all played many characters in separate episodes. Brooker also claimed in an interview with The Independent that he had ideas for sequels to the episodes “White Bear” and “Be Right Back,” potentially giving the casts of both episodes, including Lenora Crichlow, Hayley Atwell, and Domhnall Gleeson, the opportunity to return.
There’s no telling who we’ll see in the future, with recent seasons casting both British and American actors, from celebrities like Miley Cyrus to lesser-known cast members. Bryan Cranston, Hugh Laurie, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tatiana Maslany, Rosamund Pike, Jared Leto, John Boyega, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Adam Driver, Danny DeVito, and “the entire parks and recreation cast” are among the performers who fans would like to see, according to a Reddit thread by u/DeviantDevi. Nobody is outside limits, to be honest.

What stories will we see in Black Mirror Season 6?
With each episode so far being self-contained, the nature of an anthology series makes it difficult to foretell exactly what will happen in a future season of “Black Mirror.” Despite this, each episode is set in the same planet, with Easter eggs and comparable technologies appearing in various stories.
Given that it frequently takes place in the present, it would be fascinating to watch how a dystopian programme like “Black Mirror” might deal with the current outbreak. Could we envision a scenario where technology helps people stay connected, or one where technology distorts reality because a person’s only view of the outside world is their screen? How about a narrative set hundreds of years in the future, during a pandemic?
If “Be Right Back” has a sequel, it’ll be intriguing to see how the artificial recreation of the departed Ash (Gleeson) evolves over time. Is he still Ash as he gains new experiences over time? Or does he decay through time, eventually becoming an abomination? For “White Bear,” we could picture a scenario in which people are tortured by reliving the same awful day over and over before having their memories erased, similar to a deranged version of “The Good Place,” and somehow manage to escape.
