Burnett “Burny” Mattinson was a well-known American animator, director, producer, and story artist who worked for Walt Disney Animation Studios under the banner of Disney. On May 13, 1935, he entered the world in San Francisco, California. Mattinson grew up in San Jose, California, with his mother working in the theater industry and his father, Bernie Mattinson, a jazz drummer.
Mattinson wed Sylvia Fry, an in-betweener on the Sleeping Beauty production (1959). That union resulted in three offspring for the couple and four grandkids for them. Burny Mattinson, Disney’s longest-serving animator, began working for the studio in 1953. During his illustrious tenure, he contributed to many iconic Disney theatrical animated features like Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aladdin (1992), and The Lion King (1994), among many others.
