Coy Wire Career
Before becoming a CNN contributor, Coy was a professional American football player. In 2002, he was picked 97th overall by the Buffalo Bills in the third round. As a rookie, he started as a strong safety and appeared in 15 games.
Later, he was selected Special Teams Player of the Year twice by the Buffalo Bills, and he was named team captain in 2005. Coy signed with the Atlanta Falcons on July 25, 2008, and began his NFL career. He played in 47 of 48 games over three seasons until being released on September 2, 2011.
Coy began working as a full-time anchor and journalist for CNN Sports in 2015. He was also a Bleacher Report segment anchor and a subject matter expert across all platforms. He also covered the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015, as well as the College Football Playoff National Championship game and Super Bowl 50.
