FOX’s Crime Scene Kitchen debuted on May 26, 2021, as a reality television series. It is hosted by Joel McHale, and the show’s judges are Yolanda Gampp and Curtis Stone. The show got renewed for a second season in May 2022. At the end of each episode, the bakers must figure out what kind of dessert was made in the kitchen by looking at crumbs, flour trails, and other cues left behind.
After that, they must make the sweets for the judges from scratch. Each show is divided into two rounds, with the first round’s victors receiving one extra hint. There will be a second “Showpiece” round, and the team that performs poorest will be eliminated.

Crime Scene Kitchen Season 2 Storyline
As the mystery kitchen dessert, everyone prepared pies in the first round, but they were all different kinds of pies. Donte and Cory created an apple pie in honour of the Fourth of July, while Emma and Leslie made a lattice-topped blueberry pie. Using the oats and brown sugar as hints, Shania and Hope came up with the idea of blackberry crumble pie. To make use of the pastry wheel in the drying rack, Lorie and Jason baked a mixed-berry lattice top pie as well.
There will be an extra clue given to Emma & Leslie next week in the semi-finals because their dessert in the mystery kitchen was a lattice crust blueberry pie. Each baker receives a list of ingredients, as well as three monuments commemorating the United States of America’s independence as clues for the major Showstopper round.
Two tiers of red, white, and blue velvet cake with flag-themed fondant decoration were made by both Lorie & Jason and Emma & Leslie; the only difference was that Lorie & Jason made Lois’s torch as a topper, while Emma & Leslie got the extra clue that either the Statue of Liberty or Liberty Bell were on top, and went with the Liberty Bell. Shania & Hope, like Donte & Cory, topped their patriotic cake with a Liberty Bell topper, but they prepared a sponge cake as Donte & Cory did.
Three layers of red and blue velvet cakes were sandwiched between two white cake layers to create a genuine patriotic cake. Using fondant stripes on the bottom tier and a blue and white striped top tier, the cake is adorned with a fondant flag design, which includes a modelling chocolate Liberty Bell on top. There is no top dessert detective team this week in the Crime Scene Kitchen since no team made the coloured layers as velvet cake and the white layer as sponge cake. A six-tier, melting cake disaster by Shania & Hope sent them packing, but the other three teams will join the other group in the semi-finals next week.
Crime Scene Kitchen: Stream It Or Skip It?
There is proof of what was baked in the “crime scene,” which is a model kitchen. Six two-person teams will enter the kitchen to compete in a baking competition called “Crime Scene Kitchen.” The teams will have two hours to recreate the baked goods from the kitchen using the clues provided.
Chef Curtis Stone and famed YouTube baker Yolanda Gampp will be judging the baked delicacies in the kitchen where they were prepared. Curtis Stone… do you mean baking? You asked for him, and here he is in all his Aussie magnificence. Yes, we did ask that as well. Teams will be scored on whether or not they properly predicted the dish, as well as on how effectively they prepared it.
If no one else makes a good guess, then you’ll be safe. The “Dessert Round” victory will grant your team an additional clue in the “Showpiece Round,” which is the second of the two rounds. Elimination is guaranteed for the team that fails to advance past the Showpiece Round. The grand prize in this competition is a $100,000 check.
It was Joel McHale’s hosting that made us enjoy the show the most. After more than a decade of making fun of reality shows like these on The Soup, McHale is now the host of them. This is fascinating. Interestingly, he also applies that same detached, sardonic demeanour to hosting these programmes. One of his favourite ways to undermine his opponents is to make light of how little time is left by joking that five minutes are “hundreds of seconds,” for example. The kid of a mother-son duo who admitted to being “jumpy” when stressed for time cracked us up.
One of its executive producers, McHale, has the leeway to make fun of this generally ridiculous show because he is one of its producers. When it comes to the competition, he takes things seriously enough to be credible, as he does on Card Sharks. The candidates are a typical mix of “arguing friend couple,” “loud mother-daughter duo,” “mother and mama’s boy,” “two mates from Brooklyn,” etc. As a result, you’re more likely to root for or against a character based on their interactions in the kitchen rather than their personal stories. They’re all enjoyable, albeit a little formulaic.
There are so many events where Stone has judged and cooked that if you come into this one expecting something new, be prepared for disappointment. The first episode didn’t show much about whether or not Gampp is going to be a tough judge, but she gave some fascinating criticism.
How much does it matter who wins? No. It’s a Boston cream pie, so does it matter that someone came up with the Bakewell tart idea instead? No, not at all. It’s a lot of fun to play the guessing game. And it appears that the format will be as easy to swallow as a slice of delicious carrot cake thanks to the overall light tone.
