After that, Butz spent the next 14 years playing for the Washington Redskins. During that time, he took part in three Super Bowls. He is now third on the team’s all-time list for sacks (59.5). In 1983, the year he had the most sacks in his career, he was chosen to play in the Pro Bowl for the first and only time. In 16 years as a player, he missed only four games.
When he played in the NFL, Butz was 6 feet 8 inches tall and often weighed close to 300 pounds. Because of this, he was one of the heaviest players in the league.
