DeVonta Smith, a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, has been one of the team’s most crucial players this year. Smith has improved during his third season at Phill after a productive sophomore campaign. Smith had 64 catches for 916 yards and 5 touchdowns as a rookie. In 2022, he enhanced his stats, hauling in 95 passes for 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns.
Smith has 206 yards and two scores through Philly’s first three games of the 2023 season on 15 receptions on 20 targets. His current average distance per reception is 13.7 yards. The Eagles will play the Washington Commanders in Week 4 and are now 3-0.
DeVonta Smith Illness Update
DeVonta Smith has occasionally been listed as having an injury despite having participated in each of the Eagles’ first three games this season. Smith took part in just a few of the Eagles’ workouts last week.
He was described as having hamstring/thigh pain, but he nonetheless took the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Smith missed practice on Thursday of this week due to illness. He did, however, visit the practice area once more today.

Smith skipped yesterday’s practice, but there are no clues as to why. He was sick and missed practice, but he came back the next day. Smith either had a sickness, or the Eagles decided to rest him an additional day before the game on Sunday.

When Will DeVonta Smith Return?
All indicators point to Smith playing on Sunday against the Washington Commanders after he worked out on Friday. If and when Smith plays on Sunday, he will have taken part in every match that has been played thus far in his career.

Over the course of his career, Smith has had multiple formations on the injury report, but he has always been able to play. Smith only managed four receptions for 28 yards in his Monday night game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Eagles will attempt to improve their record to 4-0 with a victory over their NFC East rival. On Sunday, the Commanders are hoping to duplicate their accomplishment from last year by inflicting the Eagles’ first setback of the year.
