Kody Brown and his “sister wives” don’t exist anymore. For now, at least. Meri Brown, 51, from the reality TV show “Sister Wives” on TLC, said this week that she and Kody Brown, 53, are no longer together after 32 years of marriage. She is the last person Kody dated to leave him.
Even though the show is still going on, three of Kody’s four wives have left their polygamous marriages, leaving him with only one wife, Robyn Brown. This is the family’s only legal marriage with 18 children.
In the United States, it is against the law to get married to more than one person. But Kody Brown has called his relationships with Meri, Christine, and Janelle Brown “spiritual unions,” saying that their marriages are also legal.
People, which gave a sneak peek at a “Sister Wives: One on One” interview special that will air on TLC on Sunday, said that Meri Brown said that Kody “made the decision” to end their marriage.
The news comes a few days after Janelle Brown told People that she and Kody Brown had broken up.
Christine Brown said last November that she and Kody had broken up after 25 years together.
It wasn’t clear right away if the recent breakups would mean the end of the TLC show. But Christine Brown stayed on the show even after she left the family last year. She was on the most recent season, which started in September.
During the TLC interview with host Sukanya Krishnan, a clip of Kody Brown said, “I don’t think of myself as married to Meri. If she wanted to move on and marry someone else, I wouldn’t stop her.”
Meri said that they never talked about splitting up.
She said, “Like, he just made a choice.” “He’s never said that to me,” she said.

The news that Meri Brown and Kody were splitting up confirmed what many viewers already thought. And a lot of them said they were behind Meri.
“About time,” tweeted author Jami Denise. “Honestly, I can’t believe any of them stayed with this abusive jerk for this long.”
One viewer said she hopes Meri finds someone who “loves and respects” her, and another said she “deserves better.”
Several people didn’t like how Kody treated his wives. Author Danielle Gray said he was “an awful person” who was “very controlling” and “cruel” to them.
Another viewer said, “I love that these women finally had the guts to stand up for themselves and leave him.”
Since the first episode of “Sister Wives” aired in 2010, the family has moved several times. They first lived in Lehi, Utah, then in Las Vegas, and most recently in Flagstaff, Arizona, where they owned rural land and were building a house.
Meri said that she and Kody had been working on their relationship since they moved to Flagstaff but that things were getting worse on their anniversary.
She suggested that they tell everyone about their relationship, but Kody said he didn’t want that to be public because he didn’t want to be judged.
Still, Meri Brown said that if Kody wants to get back together, she would be open to it.
