Martin Clunes will play Portwenn’s grouchy Dr. Martin Ellingham in the last episodes of “Doc Martin” season 10 and the Christmas special. Doc Martin season 10 is the final season of the Martin Clunes show. As a result, when the show returns to ITV in the latter part of 2022 and concludes with a Christmas special, it will be heartbreaking for viewers.
From Spain and Italy to Scandinavia and Australia, this drama set in the Cornish community of Portwenn has been a staple of the ITV schedule since 2004.
Clunes, who has played the grumpy Dr. Martin Ellingham for more than two decades, recalls his fond memories of filming Doc Martin in Cornwall: “I have loved traveling to Cornwall for the previous 18 years, and I have looked forward to returning this year for the tenth and final season. The people of Cornwall, and in particular the residents of Port Isaac, have always been extremely supportive of our production efforts.
The new series and the Christmas special contain some fantastic storylines, which I think Doc Martin fans will enjoy. In Cornwall, I’ll miss all the wonderful people I’ve met through my work here. Nevertheless, it is high time we said our final goodbyes to Doc and Portwenn.”

‘Doc Martin’ Season 10 release date
Due to the fact that filming for the final season of Doc Martin has just recently begun in Cornwall, the show will not air until later in 2022 on ITV. We expect the eight-part series to premiere in the fall, but no official word has been given on whether or not there will be a companion documentary commemorating the series’ debut. So, in December 2022, we’ll see the final “hurrah” Christmas special. We’ll let you know when it airs in the United States and other countries around the world.
‘Doc Martin’ Season 10 plot
While working as Portwenn’s GP in 2019, Doc Martin decided to leave due to his fear of blood, following an investigation by the General Medical Council into his medical profession. While trying to overcome his anxiety, Doc Martin begins to question whether he made the correct decision in quitting the practice. He and his wife Louisa recently welcomed a daughter, Mary Elizabeth, who will be the big sister to James Henry, their four-year-old son, in this new series.
