Xavier Batten, hailing from Brooksville, Florida, admitted his guilt in January, pleading to one felony charge of possessing an unregistered destructive device and one misdemeanor charge of intentionally damaging a reproductive health services facility.

U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney also imposed three years of probation on Batten and ordered him to pay $1,000 in restitution, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The attack on the clinic in Costa Mesa occurred on March 13, 2022. Surveillance footage captured two individuals hurling a Molotov cocktail at the clinic’s front door. Fortunately, the clinic was closed at the time, and no injuries were reported.
In a related case, Chance Brannon, a 24-year-old from San Juan Capistrano, California, who was an active-duty Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton during the incident, was sentenced to nine years in prison last month.
Another defendant, Tibet Ergul, has admitted guilt to the charges brought against him. His sentencing is scheduled for May 30th.
